When the summer comes, most people head to their favourite beach vacations, on trips that were planned months ago. However, if you haven’t booked your trip yet, there’s no need to get left behind! There is still plenty of time for you to prepare a fantastic summer beach holiday, without breaking the bank. Why not book a trip to one of these affordable and unexpected beach destinations?!
Admittedly, parents with children are often limited to the school term dates. However, you’ll find families who would rather get a fine from their schools for taking their children on holiday outside of school vacations, because it remains the cheapest option. But if you don’t have any child in tow, you can book your beach holiday outside of the summer peak and save a whole load of cash.
Our trip to Malta began just after schools began, and we got a deal for 3 weeks for the price of two! Plus if you pack smart, you can save even more money on costly hold-luggage fees. Check out our handy packing guides for all you will need to know for your next summer break! So with most destinations remaining warm until the beginning of October, why not book a late summer break right now?!
Far Away but Still Super Cheap
Booking your flights to Indonesia will be the most expensive part of your holiday. Once you’re there, you can enjoy a stay at the luxury villas in Seminyak for as little as £46 per night. You’re in luck as well, because September is the best season to visit Bali, as it’s the dry season. Consequently, you’ll find the weather slightly less humid, and the touristic attractions and activities can be up to 50% cheaper than during the high season. The sea conditions are optimal for water sport activities and scuba diving lessons too.
The Forgotten Paradise
If you’d rather try an exciting destination without flying at the other end of the world, try Croatia by the Adriatic sea, (that is, assuming you can forgive the Croatian football team for crushing the Three Lions’ dreams of a World Cup..)
Istria is a highly tourist-friendly region directly along the coast, and you’ll find plenty of direct flights connection to Pula, the main airport. However, you’ll be pleased to know that you can also fly to Venice and use the catamaran service to cross to Istrian ports. Croatia is gaining in popularity, and prices are high during the peak season, but you’ll enjoy a warm month of September for half of the price of summer holidaymakers!
The Unmissable Med Jewel
If you’re looking for an affordable Mediterranean paradise, Portugal is the place to head to. You can find plenty of deal for less than £200 per person for a week outside of the summer season. One word of warning about Portugal, though: for a traditional experience, you might want to rent a private villa in one of the numerous coastal villages. Oh and do take a phrasebook as small (and most romantic) places may not speak English.
Close to Home but still Magical
Last, but not least, if you’re not the kind of holidaymaker who lies down on a sunny beach, you should explore the Ring of Kerry in the Republic of Ireland. It’s a beautiful region north of Cork, where you can not only find breathtaking landscapes, but there is also plenty of wildlife to observe. In fact, you can even catch a boat that’ll take you to see dolphins and seabirds. Besides, you’ll get to experience first-hand the famous Irish hospitality – and their deliciously fresh fish and chips meals!
In short, whether you’re looking for a luxury vacation or for a sunny spot to relax, don’t assume that it’s too late to book your beach holiday this summer. Most destinations have still plenty of rooms throughout September and October for half of the price!
