When you reach the traffic lights at the end of the road, take a left and then follow the road until you reach the Jerbourg Hotel and you will see the free car park on the left.

Why Should I go to Jerbourg, Guernsey?

If you visit Jerbourg on a clear day, you can see across to the islands surrounding Guernsey, Alderney, Herm, Sark and even across to France. It is a steep descent down a lot of stairs to reach sea level however it is so worth it when you get there. There is a bench at the bottom of the walk down where you can sit and watch the boats head into St Peter Port. Follow the path to the left or the right and you will be able to access the rocks on the shoreline.

After your walk back up the hill, you can stop in at the Jerbourg Kiosk for ice cream or hot drink. There are also toilet facilities here that are cleaned regularly.

If the weather isn’t as nice or you are wanting some shade from the sun, how about paying a visit to the Jerbourg Hotel for a unicorn hot chocolate and unicorn cake? We were fascinated by how pretty these were and they tasted pretty good too. If you are into your sweet cakes, I am sure you will enjoy it.

When Should I go to Jerbourg Point?

The best time to visit Jerbourg is on a clear day in the summer months when it is warm. If you are an early bird, the even better time to visit is for sunrise. The golden sunlight bounces off the cliff and creates a gorgeous glow around the island.

If you are visiting on a hot day, how about paying a visit to the nearby Petit Port beach. With long stretches of white sand at low tide, this beach is a must-see on your visit to Guernsey.

During the clear summer nights of Guernsey, the lack of pollution and lights from big cities provides the island with the most spectacular light show in the world, the Milky Way. Head here at night with a picnic and a blanket (probably some warm clothes as well to stell the cold, sea air) and spend your night relaxing between the stars.

The Jerbourg Cliff Walk

When you park up at the Jerbourg Hotel and kiosk area you can either take the steps down to Jerbourg Point or if you would like to explore more of the island by foot, then you can start a cliff walk around the south coast of Guernsey. The complete cliff walk is around 20 miles however you can tailor this to suit your abilities

Start the walk at the end of La Route de Jerbourg and follow the road marked as a dead end. There are many up and down hills around the coastal walk, however, this is balanced by the many benches dotted around the cliffs, giving you time for a rest and to soak of the stunning view in front of you.

Alternatively, you can go down the cliff and explore the rocks and the sea beneath.

Before You Leave for Guernsey

Before you leave on your trip to the beautiful island of Guernsey, there are a number of things you will need to organise to ensure a smooth and stress-free trip. These include what to pack, where to stay and what is the best travel insurance for Guernsey.

How to Get to Guernsey

Given that Guernsey is an island, you really have two choices of transport for getting there: plane or boat. Both of these transport methods are available from the UK, France and from the neighbouring Channel Islands.

Ferry to Guernsey

Condor is the best option for ferries to and from the Channel Islands from the mainland. Leaving from the mainland UK ports of Poole and Portsmouth, the French port of St Malo and the Channel Islands port of Jersey, there are two main ferries that will bring you to Guernsey.

The faster boat, known as the Liberation, takes 3 hours to get from Poole to Guernsey, while the slower boat, known as the Clipper, takes 7 hours from Portsmouth. From St Malo, it will take you just under 2 hours aboard the Rapide to reach Guernsey.

Browse all of Condor’s ferries and routes on their website here.

Fly to Guernsey

Flying to Guernsey can be done from multiple airports across the UK with the Channel Islands airline, Aurigny. This is the quickest and easiest way to get to the island if you are only coming for a short period of time.

You can browse all of the available flights and routes on the Aurigny website here.

What to Pack for Guernsey?

What you need to pack for Guernsey will rely highly on when you make your trip to the Channel Islands. During the Spring and Autumn months, temperatures and weather patterns vary wildly between beautiful sunny skies and storming gales.

The temperatures generally vary from 10oC to 25oC during these months, with a mixture between cold, northerly winds and warmer southerlies. There is a small amount of rain, with maybe 1 in 7 days receiving rainfall, which makes it perfect for days out exploring the beautiful island.

During the Summer months in Guernsey, temperatures tend to range from 20oC to 30oC, with some days topping 35oC. Summer days in Guernsey are perfect for the beach, with many locals and travellers alike sending their day soaking up the sun and playing in the sea.
