Ah, Rome. The capital of Italy and the capital of elegance! The buildings, the suave people, the tourists, the awe-inspiring architecture, the wealth of history, this is rustic Italia at its very best! Self-confessed educational experts STA Travel Education are spilling the beans on what Rome has to offer you and your students.
A historians heaven
Well. Where do we begin? Rome is a history book in itself, with numerous historical sites dotted around the city. Historical tours will exploit the Vatican, the Colosseum, the Roman & Imperial Forums as well as Palatine Hill. With so much crammed into one city, even the biggest history buffs will struggle to hide their excitement!
A treat for the eyes
The modern day meets historical beauty in this city, and the architecture hasn’t been left off the list! The Pantheon is a living display of Roman genius, perfectly preserved and dating back to 126 AD. The Victor Emmanuel II Monument, is a more recent structure but equally as impressive.
Religion in abundance
Believer or non-believer, there’s no escaping the significance of religion in the city. The Vatican is a symbol of all things Catholic, the Great Synagogue celebrates the Jewish religion and the Sistine Chapel is one of the most popular attractions in the city. Religious tours can be cultivated right on your doorstep, interesting for students and all ages!
You’ll want a pizza this!
What’s the first thing you think of when you step off the plane in Italy? Your stomach, of course! Pizza, pasta and coffee all finished off with a delicious gelato! The bread, did we mention the bread? Rome is a hub of all things food, choc-full of restaurants, cafes, bars and food stands. Pack elastic waistbands and enjoy!
Did you know?
The Vatican is actually a country and it’s the smallest in the world, measuring to a minuscule 108 acres.
