This is the Eriba Touring 530 touring caravan, a perfect compact yet spacious home on wheels for your next adventure. Kitted out with a bathroom, kitchen area and double bed there is ample space for a couple or small family to enjoy a getaway in one of Eriba’s greatest products on the market.

On a recent trip to the Pennines, we had the opportunity to test out one of these beauties for ourselves, giving us a taste of the caravan life. Having grown up going on caravan holidays then as adults transitioning to the motorhome life, this trial run for us in a caravan gave us the feeling that we have been missing out on something special.

A vintage-style caravan such as the Eriba Touring 530 has such a unique feel to it which has the potential to completely change a trip. It’s more than just a caravan, it’s an experience.

In this article, we will share with you our recent experience staying in the Eriba Touring 530 caravan, listing what you can expect from such a van and share with you how you can also try out this van and this experience for yourself.

Who are Eriba?

Eriba is a German outdoor brand who have been striving in the market for over 60 years, leading the way in setting new standards in the world of caravanning and outdoor products.

The quality of production by Eriba is of exceptionally high quality which evolves with time and with their clientelle. As the younger generations take more of an interest in the campervan and motorhome lifestyle it is worth noting how versatile the Eriba Touring 530 is for your next holiday. The fact it can be towed by a small car was a huge bonus for us!

How big is the Eriba 530?

The Eriba 530 is a touring caravan, perfect for couples or a small family seeking an outdoor and adventurous holiday.

This 3 berth touring van is the perfect size if you are new to caravans or towing as it’s lightweight meaning it can be towed by smaller cars. If you are unsure whether or not you can tow with your car, you can read more on towing here.

The exterior of the Eriba 530 has a stylish retro look to it and its aircraft design makes it unique to Eriba. The rounded shape of the front of the caravan improves fuel economy making this stylish caravan not only easy on the eye but also very efficient.

There is a lifting roof canvas window inside the van providing the van with 1.95m of headroom which can be opened or closed easily using handles on either end from the inside.

Inside the Eriba 530

We were pleasantly surprised to see how deceptively spacious the inside of this caravan is. It is cosy and relaxing yet also feels airy and adventurous with plenty of windows letting in natural light throughout the van and the canvas pop up roof allowing for air and light to enter the van. The Eriba Touring 530 has a fixed double bed which is always a real highlight for us as you don’t need to worry about making up the bed and taking it down every day.

Around the bedroom area are numerous storage cupboards providing ample storage throughout the bedroom section of the caravan. We also loved the fact there is a window along the back of the van as well as at the foot of the bed allowing plenty of light in which can be blocked out with strong blinds overnight.

The kitchenette area in the caravan allows for some great meals to be created on the road! We were impressed by the size of the fridge and small freezer and there also felt a good amount of storage space for kitchen equipment and food. There is a sink with a cover that can be multipurpose used as an additional workspace or flipped over and used as a chopping board.

Towards the front of the van is a dining area with two adjacent couch spaces and a table that clips into the wall or can be removed and clipped onto the externals of the van instead. There is also a great amount of storage area around this area and the couches can fold out into another small bed.

A caravan that has enough space for a toilet and a shower room is a winner for us. There is nothing worse than needing to leave your cosy abode to brave the outdoor elements for a bathroom break. This area is compact yet still boasts plenty of storage space for your toiletries and towels and has a large mirror above the sink.

Outside the Eriba 530

The timeless outside design of the Eriba Touring 530 combines vintage aesthetics with modern convenience. The electric vehicle hook-up allows the Touring 530 to be connected to mains providing you with electricity in the van. The toilet cassette is also kept in a cupboard on the side of the van and can be disposed of at chemical waste disposal sites when you stay on campsites.  The freshwater can be filled up using a hose and electrical inlet pumping system, pumping the water into the tank and the wastewater tap can be disposed of from outside the van as well.

If you are looking to experience the Try Before You Buy scheme which is offered by Adventure Leisure Vehicles at Pennine View Caravan Park then it is worth noting the following points:

Before You Leave for The Lake District

With the Penines being so close to the Lake District, you may wish to also do a bit of exploring around one of the UK’s most gorgeous National Parks. Before you head off on your trip to The Lake District, there are certain things you will need to get organised to ensure a smooth trip. These include what to pack, where to stay and what travel insurance to book.

How Do I Get to The Lake District?

The Lake District National Park is a mountainous region in the northwest of England. It is easily reachable by public transport, including train and bus, with routes that take you from major cities directly to the centre of the town of Windermere. From here you can reach Pennine View Caravan Park by bus or train.

If you are flying into the country, the closest airport will be Manchester airport, however, you can still easily reach The Lake District by bus and train from any other part of the country.

National Express Buses connect the Lake District to other parts of the country and West Coast Trains.

View all of the relevant bus and train lines that will get you to Windermere right here.

What Should I Pack for The Lake District?

What you need to pack for The Lake District will rely highly on when you make your trip there. During the Spring and Autumn months, temperatures and weather patterns vary wildly between beautiful sunny skies and freezing rain. Among the essential items you should pack, we recommend a waterproof coat (men’s / women’s), comfortable, waterproof boots (men’s / women’s) and hat and gloves.

The temperatures generally vary from 10 oC to 25 oC during these months, with a mixture between cold, northerly winds and warmer southerlies. There is a small amount of rain, with maybe 1 in 7 days receiving rainfall, which makes it perfect for days out exploring the beautiful city.

During the Summer months in the Lake District, temperatures tend to range from 20oC to 30oC, with some days topping 35oC.  When it comes to toiletries, we recommend that you don’t forget to pack sunscreen. The sun in the Lake District can be strong, especially in the summer months. We would recommend using a sunscreen on these days, we use this specific sun lotion as its less greasy than most others.

If you need more inspiration on what to pack for your trip, check out our full packing guides for all-weather conditions over here.

Given the beautiful sights and scenery that you will see in the Lake District, we highly recommend packing a good camera for your trip. If you want to read more about the cameras we use and why we love them, check out the link below.

What is the Best Travel Insurance?

We know travel insurance is the least enjoyable thing to purchase and look at when you’re planning a trip, however, you wouldn’t want to be without it in the event that something happened. Accidents can happen anywhere and the extortionate medical bills will ruin your trip if you are not covered.

To ensure you have a stress-free trip with no worries about potential medical bills, make sure you cover yourself when you travel. We can recommend using SafetyWing, a backpacker-friendly and cheap insurance company that provides good coverage and support. It is also nomad-friendly, unlike most other insurance companies, meaning you do not need to worry about being out of your home country for too long.
