Port Soif, Guernsey – WHAT, WHERE, and WHY..
What is Port Soif?
Port Soif is a crescent-shaped sandy beach that is sheltered by sand dunes, making it a great beach for swimming and sunbathing. There are a small number of steps leading down onto the beach, therefore it would not be the easiest beach to access for those with impaired mobility.
Winding around the back of the sand dunes is a gravel path that leads around the rocky shore out towards the west coast. This is a highly popular walk for dog walkers and anyone else wishing to soak up the beautiful Guernsey scenery.
Where is Port Soif?
Port Soif is located near Grand Rocque on the west side of the island. There is ample parking here and when you arrive, you will have the choice of two car parks. One is closer to the kiosk and the other is closer to the beach.
You can access the car parks by turning towards the sea just down the road from the Guernsey Football Club.
How to get to Port Soif?
Port Soif is easily accessed off the main road of Portinfer Coast Road. There is a sign for the Surfside Beach Cafe from the road leading you up the small road to the car park.
If you are getting the bus to Port Soif, you will need to get either the 41 or 91.
When Should I Go to Port Soif
Port Soif looks completely different at high and low tide and in our opinion, high tide is best. This beach also catches beautiful golden light at sunset
This beach is generally one of the more popular beaches to visit on the island, so it will be unlikely you’ll have the place to yourself.
Why Should I Go to Port Soif?
There is a great amount of parking that sits just above the beach and also a kiosk with toilet facilities. The Surfside kiosk serves both hot and cold foods as well as buckets and spades etc. for the beach.

Summer days in Guernsey are perfect for the beach, with many locals and travellers alike sending their day soaking up the sun and playing in the sea. When it comes to toiletries, we recommend that you don’t forget to pack sunscreen. The sun in Guernsey can be strong, especially in the summer months.
