Fiamma, meaning flame in Italian, is one of the largest outdoor and leisure companies in the world selling a variety of equipment and accessories for those who love the outdoors or who have a campervan or motorohome.
We were recently invited over to their factory in Milan to meet with the Fiamma team and explore some of their new products.
We have just returned back from this brilliant trip to Milan with the Caravan Writers Guild and Fiamma. We have a lot of Fiamma products in our motorhome, our most recent upgrades being a storage box and an F45 awning. This trip made us want even more although I’m still working out where we will store it all!

Planning Your Trip

We arrived at Milan Airport to be greeted by Karl, the UK Marketing Manager for Fiamma who brought us to Cardano Hotel where we would be staying for the next couple of nights. It was a quick turnaround at the hotel before catching the bus out for the evening. It was great to have welcome drinks with old and new friends before heading out to Lake Como for the evening.
We arrived in Lake Como after a 45 minute drive to the most beautiful evening and atmosphere around the Lake. Houses lined the cliffs and boats filled the lake. We visited in May and the temperature was perfect.
We wandered around the town of Como, taking in sights of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta – Duomo di Como building and Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta.
After a relaxed stroll around Como, we went for a lovely dinner at Giulietta al Lago, a stunning restaurant sitting right on the banks of Lake Como. We enjoyed some delicious Italian wine, pizza and risotto. As the sun set, the restaurant was lit up in ambient fairy lights and the atmosphere was great.
The following day started with a trip to the Fiamma Factory, which was the main reason why we were all here. Fiamma is a very successful camping brand founded in Milan. Starting off with camping gas cookers and heating, since founded in 1945, Fiamma has now expanded its range of products across bike racks, awnings and so much more in the camping space.
We met with the managing director, Charles who took us through the history of the company which was founded by his grandparents and spoke of the plans for expansion throughout their warehouse.
Being in the camping and caravanning industry and having just had a brand new Fiamma awning fitted to our motorhome, we could really appreciate the attention to detail that has gone into each stage of the production process.
After the tour, we went to a restaurant nearby called I Gelsi where we were very well fed! The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge!
The afternoon was spent exploring some of the city of Milan and Fiamma had planned a great itinerary of things to do while we were there.
One of the highlights for us was going to Camparino where we had a lovely Campari spritz drink. This is the region of Italy where Campari is made so it was nice for us to try it for the first time there. The atmosphere was buzzing and the sun was shining so it was a delightful experience.
Tell me I’m not alone when I say, you just can’t go to Italy and not indulge in all of the pizza and pasta you’re offered. So when we arrived at Rovello 18 for dinner, we indulged in more delicious food and this time one of our favourite pastas – cacio peppe!
This trip was full of fun, friends and Fiamma and it left us dreaming of all of the new gadgets we want to add to our van!
