Jersey is officially known as Bailiwick of Jersey and is the largest amongst the Channel Islands. It is only 12 nautical miles from France and is definitely one of the most beautiful spots to enjoy some serene time. These islands have their own financial system, judicial system, and are self-governing. Technically speaking, it is a Crown Dependency which is similar to Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Jersey Islands are defended and represented internationally by the United Kingdom.
While you plan to rejoice in a short break in Jersey, we let you decide what to do in this quintessential location with this Jersey itinerary.
DAY 1
LA CORBIÈRE LIGHTHOUSE
One of the most historical locations in the Jersey Islands is the La Corbière Lighthouse. Located at the extreme southwestern point of the islands, this monumental structure has become a tourist favourite over the years. 19 meters (62 feet) in height and standing 36 meters (119 feet) high, this lighthouse looks like a stunning marvel each day. During high tides, it is visible from 18 nautical miles as it stands tall on the rocks present there.
The lighthouse carries some facts alongwith it while standing erect and guiding the lost souls. According to the legends, the La Corbière lighthouse is the first one ever in the British Isles. At the same time, others believe that it might be the first ever in the world, which was built of concrete.
ST. AUBIN & ST. HELIER
St. Aubin and St. Helier are two of the most beautiful and magnificent parts of the Jersey Islands. Originally a fishing village, St. Aubin has now gained popularity as a tourist spot whereas St. Helier has also become an explorer’s magnet.
The bay of St. Aubin is known as the Gulf of Saint-Malo and stretches around 5km along the south of the island from St. Helier in the east to St. Aubin Harbour in the west. It offers a variety and vast expanse of sandy beaches to visitors. Due to it being close to St. Helier, these beaches are flooded with sunbathers and beach lovers. Towards the eastern end and around the seawater swimming pool, you can spot groups of tourists finding their own way to relax and enjoy a quality time.
One of the popular traditions followed by tourists is probably to walk the whole bay in one direction and hop on the road-train or tramp in the other.
This is possible because you can find a wide and flat-surfaced promenade which runs the length of St. Aubins Bay. this has gained popularity amongst the crowd which includes walkers, runners, cyclists, roller-bladers, and dog-walkers. It even includes Jersey’s very own ‘Petit Train’ that operates regularly between St. Helier and St. Aubin in high season.

JERSEY WAR TUNNELS
Exploring Jersey is incomplete without a visit to the war tunnels found here. The exhibition of war tunnels in Jersey is presented like a textbook with evident evidence of how life was during WWII. During the German occupancy in Jersey, the people found their own way to revert and deal with the challenging situation.
The 50 meters long tunnel complex present here was formerly known as Höhlgangsanlage 8 or Ho8. The complex was initially meant to be a barrack and storage room for ammunition for the forces. The location was perfect to be a disguise since it is on the hillside within St Peter’s Valley.
To construct such a complex, it took an immense amount of time and labour. Some believe it took 3.5 years to complete while some have found proof that it took nearly 5 years to do so. The major force included here was that of slave labourers who were brought to this foreign land (for them) from all over Europe. The stories you would hear are either first-hand or were passed down generations letting the coming generations know the value of life and the privileges it comes with.
Today the War Tunnels are open to the public with the idea of letting the world know the story. The complex includes a Garden of Reflection or a woodland walk which gives you some amount of time to grasp everything. The War Tunnels gives a glimpse of the struggle of life in Jersey under occupation and showcase a series of intriguing galleries of lives who went through it despite the fact whether they were local, British or German.
JERSEY LAVENDER FARM
To give away your tiredness and be in a fragrant environment is definitely one of the best ways to decompress. To do so while on a trip is as exciting and adventurous as it sounds.
Visiting Jersey lavender farms is more than this. This instagrammable-location is breathtaking and beyond imagination. Located on the southwest of the island in Saint Brélade, the lavender farms have become a tourist magnet while still retaining the title of being the source of life. It has always supported the lives of Jersey and keeps on doing so. The best time to visit and be a witness of spectacular sights is when it is in bloom, i.e., from early June to early August.
The flower is grown, harvested and distilled across the nine acres of land and while you visit here, you would always come across a gardener tending them. This action is a reminder that this is a working farm.
Apart from the farms, you can find the distillery, cafes, and shops. The cafes and shops provide you with naturally-made dishes and drinks made from authentic ingredients found on the island itself. Whereas the distillery is present here to learn about the farm and smell some of the lavender oils.
Now that’s a healthy way to showcase an island!
