Day 1: Noosa to Rainbow Beach
To experience the best of your Fraser Island 3 days itinerary, you must start your journey with Noosa. But before that make sure you have enough information on safety briefing, tide information and an up-to-date beach condition report alongwith your permits.
On arriving in Noosa, book yourself a 4WD to live the experience of a lifetime. This 4WD would help you drive across the beach without much hassle. There are various tours arranged by the guides wherein you can book a 4WD as an individual or go in as a group where the tour guide would drive the car. Once you have your car, hop on to the ferry ride from Noosa to Noosa North Shore, the southern gateway to the Great Beach Drive and take the third sand exit onto one of the most exhilarating highways in the world.
Once you have exited, you would find yourself within the Great Sandy Biosphere, where you can take a halt and enjoy some picnic time. Acting as a jewel to the perfect start of the Fraser Island trip, the coloured sandy beaches at Teewah offer a great picture spot!

Day 2: Rainbow Beach to Fraser Island
When you move forward, the first step should be to confirm your permits from the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. Once you make your way to Fraser Island, you would be introduced to a magical sight to behold. Sculpted by wind, sand and surf, the striking blue freshwater lakes, crystalline creeks, giant dunes and lush rainforests of this gigantic sandbar form an enigmatic island paradise, unlike any other, Fraser Island, is a beauty worth exploring.
On arrival, you can drive north along 75 Mile and explore the various attractions like the Maheno Shipwreck, Eli Creek, Lake Wabby, Indian Head and the Champagne Pools. The island is itself a wonder as it is the only known place where rainforest grows on sand. Day 3: Exploring The Lakes On Fraser Island
Whilst enjoying your premium time in Fraser Island, plan a day out to explore Lake Wabby. This green-hued small freshwater lake is surrounded by scenic views like trees being lined perfectly along the coast, just enough to take your breath away. Although Fraser Island is home to various lakes, but, Lake Wabby has managed to gain the title of being the deepest lake on this island.
Apart from the scenic views, the lake is rightly adjacent to Hammerstone sand blow, which will eventually merge with the lake as it has already started to do so. Upon the merge, the sand blow will completely be lost.
Adding on the other factor of interest, the lake has a factor which engages more audience each year. Lake Wabby is half-moon shaped which acts as a special factor and sets it apart from the others. Adding on to this, the lake falls under a special category- two lake types in one. This special category means that the lake has two types within one- a window lake and a barrage lake. The only lake on Fraser Island which can claim this title!
Another lake on Fraser Island is Lake McKenzie. This wonder has gained attention from globetrotters purely because it has some of the most astonishing features attached to it. With its powder-white sand and crystal-clear blue water, Lake McKenzie is truly a once-in-a-lifetime swimming location.
The lake has so many features to showcase wherein one feature always plays an important role in its tourist attraction. The ‘perched’ lake sits well above the water level, which means it only holds rainwater. An eco-friendly way to store the rainwater has turned this lake into a major tourist spot. The thick layer of sand and built-up organic matter at the bottom of the lake prevents any rainwater from draining away which is how the lake stays full year-round.
